Transitional Home!

Out of Darkness has, up until now, offered two steps in the restoration and support process for trafficked women.

Step One:  Ensuring secure arrival at the safe house for short term care, while assessing her current condition and long term needs; and

Step Two:  Long term care placement with one of our many partners.

Until now, a much needed Step Three has been lacking and/or non-existent.

Over time, Out of Darkness had become aware that a portion of the women who complete their long term programs do not feel adequately equipped for full independent living, and therefore often relapse.  While living at their long term programs, their housing, food, transportation and all expenses are taken care of.  Most women have no savings available to start over again on their own upon completion of their program.

Money management is often cited as a chief concern, and returning to their former home is often not an option. Additionally, it it not likely the women have dependable contacts, encouraging friends, nor a positive support system.

This new Transitional Home will serve as Step Three to fill this gap and provide the additional support needed for the women in gaining skills and confidence as they move gradually towards independent living.

So we are excited to announce:  The vision has become a reality!  A house has been donated to Out of Darkness, which will offer a home environment; complete with support staff and volunteers to guide residents through phases that are individually programmed.  Living together with other women who are on a similar journey will help alleviate loneliness and will provide opportunities for accountability.  Our desire is to have a mentor who will commit to walk beside each woman on her journey while in our care... and beyond!

Estimated costs to operate this new home will be approximately $75,000 annually.  To date, more than $80,000 has been raised along with part of the monthly income needed for operations.  We are so excited to see how God will use this new phase of giving these precious women FREEDOM!
